10 Practical Ways to avoid FLU!

Flu like symptoms are starting to be vibrant again in this rainy season. Colds, sneezing, headache, runny nose, sore throat, fever and body weakness are commonly seen to people infected by this viral illness. Since it is viral in nature, most people feel better after 1 or 2 weeks. But for some, the flu leads to serious diseases, such as pneumonia. That's why it is important for us to take care of our bodies and prevent infection to occur especially to our dear love ones or family. Here are some tips that will help us avoid such infection to occur:

1. Wash Your Hands
Most cold and flu viruses are spread by direct contact. Someone who has the flu sneezes onto their hand, and then touches the telephone, the keyboard, a kitchen glass. The germs can live for hours -- in some cases weeks -- only to be picked up by the next person who touches the same object. So wash your hands often.

2. Don't Cover Your Sneezes and Coughs With Your Hands
When you feel a sneeze or cough coming, use a tissue, then throw it away immediately.

3. Don't Touch Your Face
Cold and flu viruses enter your body through the eyes, nose, or mouth. Touching their faces is the major way children catch colds, and a key way they pass colds on to their parents.

4. Drink Plenty of Fluids
Water flushes your system, washing out the poisons as it rehydrates you. A typical, healthy adult needs eight 8-ounce glasses of fluids each day. How can you tell if you're getting enough liquid? If the color of your urine runs close to clear, you're getting enough. If it's deep yellow, you need more fluids.

5. Take a Sauna
When you take a sauna you inhale air hotter than 80 degrees, a temperature too hot for cold and flu viruses to survive.

6. Do Aerobic Exercise Regularly
Aerobic exercise speeds up the heart to pump larger quantities of blood; makes you breathe faster to help transfer oxygen from your lungs to your blood; and makes you sweat once your body heats up. These exercises help increase the body's natural virus-killing cells.

7. Eat Foods Containing Phytochemicals
"Phyto" means plants, and the natural chemicals in plants give the vitamins in food a supercharged boost. So put away the vitamin pill, and eat dark green, red, and yellow vegetables and fruits.

8. Don't Smoke
Statistics show that heavy smokers get more severe colds and more frequent ones.
Even being around smoke profoundly zaps the immune system. Smoke dries out your nasal passages and paralyzes cilia which sweeps cold and flu viruses out of the nasal passages. Experts contend that one cigarette can paralyze cilia for as long as 30 to 40 minutes.

9. Cut Alcohol Consumption
Heavy alcohol use suppresses the immune system in a variety of ways. Alcohol also dehydrates the body -- it actually causes more fluid loss from your system than it puts in.

10. Relax
If you can teach yourself to relax, you can activate your immune system on demand. Train yourself to picture an image you find pleasant or calming. Do this 30 minutes a day for several months. Keep in mind, relaxation is a learnable skill, but it is not doing nothing at all.

Thankful Thursday: Count Your Blessings

There are countless of reasons for me to thank God about this week. But let me focus to a certain person who gives me the chance to earn through my writing skills. He's a friend from NYC. His name is Henley Chiu, founder of the Snubbr.com.

I wasn't really expecting that he would turn up up one day and ask me, "Hey Christian, can you write something for me about this certain thing (advertise this product) and I'll pay you for it." Well, it's not to brag that I'm really good about this advertising stuffs, but he believes in me so I just grab the opportunity. Though it was just simple yet it really helped me a lot, especially now wherein I am saving every penny I have for my upcoming licensure examination as a full-pledged registered nurse. It would really cost me a lot and I don't want to depend on my parents money anymore, that's why I'm working my ass so hard to save enough cash for my future review expenses.

I know that what Henley gives me can't suffice everything that I need, but I always do believe that it is IMPORTANT to give thanks in all things, just as mentioned by our Father in His word and to count every blessings you receive no matter how small or big it is! Hopefully, I could get more opportunities to generate income such as like what I have with Henley so that I can make it during the licensure exam. But all in all, I'm very much grateful!!! Thanks a lot my friend...

Happy Thankful Thursday Everyone!!!

Watery Wednesday: Splashing to the DEEP

Had this photo taken at the Port Side of Manga, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines last summer. This was during our DEEP (Daily Evangelism Exposure Program) exposure to share the gospel among the boholanos here in our country. It was a worth dying experience knowing that hundreds of souls accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour just because 13 brave souls choose to spend their summer on a mission
 rather than on a vacation.

Splashing on the deep waters was a kind of my thing.
We really enjoyed this "rest and recreation" day so i took a memory of it. Happy Watery Wednesday to everyone!!!

WFW: Just Pray

This picture reminds me of my childhood where I totally depend on my Father about everything I need.

Worrying won't bring me anywhere, and so are YOU!

Just trust HIM completely and He'll take care of everything...

NO MORE SWEAT TO WASTE!!!

Everything's being taken account of by my Father!

So just sit back, relax and enjoy his goodness to the max...

Happy WFW Everyone!!!

THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE
Synopsis: Walt Disney Studios, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub, the creators of the "National Treasure" franchise, present THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE -- an innovative and epic comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil.

Balthazar Blake (NICOLAS CAGE) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (ALFRED MOLINA). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (JAY BARUCHEL), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protege. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE.

Scenic Sunday: Wonderful World

Have taken this photo at the 38th floor of Crown Regency Hotel at Cebu City, Philippines. This is the highest floor I've reached so far among all other buildings I have been before. My knees were even shaking the moment I shoot the camera at the edge of this floor. But it feels great to see the beauty of God's creation at the top of it.

Still I can say to myself, what a Wonderful World !!!
